Dear God, we love You and we praise Your Holy Name!
Thank You for Your faithfulness through our summer break.
Thank You for being with us always.
Today we start a fresh school year.
We dedicate this school year to You.
Please send Your Holy Spirit to guide
our days, our lessons and our fun.
Help us to give grace to one another.
Help us to show love, kindness
and self-control in all circumstances.
As we interact with others may we be a light in the darkness
by reflecting Your love to all those we meet.
Help us to be true followers of Your son, Jesus Christ —
in our attitudes and our actions.
When we make mistakes, help us to seek Your forgiveness
as well as the forgiveness of others.
May we not dwell on our mistakes,
but release them and rest in Your unending grace.
Lord, we ask for Your daily protection
of our hearts, minds and bodies.
Please send Your holy angels to set up
a hedge of protection around us.
Let no harm come to us as we go about our days,
whether at home, in the car, at school or at play.
Father, we pray for our teachers.
Let them be guided by Your Holy Spirit to share
the knowledge and skills that You want us to learn.
Give them the patience and strength to endure.
Lord, we thank You for all the resources
You have provided for our education this year.
Thank You for our books, supplies and
for our beautiful minds.
We ask that You bless this school year and all we do,
in and out of the classroom.
Help us to be good students, good teachers and good friends.
We pray this in Jesus’ name. Amen.
About the Author – Mindy Stephens
Mindy lives in the Piney Woods of East Texas with her husband of 20 years and their two young sons. She loves studying God’s word, walking in nature, gardening, animals, books and traveling with her family. In the last couple of years, Mindy has been led to focus more on her relationship with God and begin to see herself as His child. Growing up, she always believed in Jesus, but due to life’s circumstances and her Catholic upbringing, she had a big disconnect at times and was not close to the Lord for many years. But, God is so faithful and in more recent years, she started to learn more about Him through His Word and has a newfound relationship that grows every day. The latest season has brought several significant changes to Mindy and her family with the decision to start homeschooling in October of 2020. This has been a huge transition, but through the leading of the Holy Spirit and being obedient to that leading, the blessings have far outweighed any issues that arise. Above all, Mindy and her husband want to instill godly principles and the love of Christ in their children. They hope that their family will be a light to the world by sharing Christ’s love wherever they go.
